This protocol provides information about “restriction orders”. A restriction order can protect a person’s identity by granting them anonymity.

A restriction order can protect a person’s identity by granting them anonymity. “Anonymity” means keeping the person’s identity private.

An application form to make, change or cancel a restriction order is at the end of the protocol.

The protocol describes the Inquiry’s decisions so far about anonymity for particular types of witness.

It also sets out the situations in which we will report alleged criminal behaviour to the police.
