Certain witnesses, who have been served with formal statutory notices which require them to provide written statements to the Inquiry for use in the forthcoming case study into the Sisters of Nazareth, have applied to have the notices revoked. Lady Smith has arranged a hearing on 4th April at 10am at which the witnesses’ solicitor will speak in support of these applications.
During Phase 2 the Inquiry will continue to examine evidence it has ingathered, researched and analysed relating to residential child care establishments run by Catholic Orders. This phase will resume with a case study about residential child care establishments run by the Sisters of Nazareth. Hearings are expected to begin on 24 April 2018 and continue into early Summer.
