In late January 2021 the Inquiry will begin hearing evidence relating to Phase 6 of its investigations into the abuse of children in boarding schools.

The first part of the case study will focus on the background and context for boarding schools while the remainder will focus on the investigation of specific institutions in Scotland. The establishments currently under investigated and expected to feature in the case study are:

• Fettes College, Edinburgh
• Gordonstoun School, Elgin
• Keil School, Dumbarton
• Loretto School, Musselburgh
• Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh
• Morrison’s Academy, Crieff (during the time it was a boarding school)
• Queen Victoria School, Dunblane

Hearings will be held at the Inquiry’s hearing venue, situated on the 3rd floor of Rosebery House, 9 Haymarket Terrace, Edinburgh EH12 5EZ. This case study is expected to conclude in May 2021.

At this stage, applications may be made for leave to appear for this case study. Anyone wishing to apply should do so as soon as possible and, in any event, no later than noon on 3 November 2020. Application forms for leave to appear are available on the website.
